Abstract
Designing an SPE Product: describes the steps a customer goes through when upgrading a legacy fieldbus system, from the concept to completing a functional prototype.
Single Pair Ethernet has many benefits over legacy fieldbus systems: it allows faster speeds, collision detection, reduced system complexity and offers a long reach supporting the reuse of existing twisted pair cabling commonly used for 4-20mA, 0-10V and RS-485 today. However, SPE also comes with some new considerations that must be addressed.
Meghan describes applications for SPE and analysis of retrofit cable ecosystems to determine suitability for intended use cases with respect to both data and power. She also provides an update on Analog Devices hardware and software tools which can ease the design in process.
